Any tips on connecting Exchange 2010?

We currently have setup Quest One IM 6.0.1 with AD connected.

We recently started to use Exchange 2010 and we want to connect it to Q1IM too.

Because of company policies, installing a job service on an exchange server is not allowed.

Before we end-up in trying all kind of scenarios, maybe someone has some do's and don'ts based on his own experience. It would be very appreciated.

One question we have right now:

In the documentation of Q1IM is stated "From Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 onwards, the synchronization server has to be a Microsoft Exchange server." while in the KB I found

https://support.quest.com/SolutionDetail.aspx?id=SOL75577&pr=Quest%20One%20Identity%20Manager stating that it should be possible to use any job server. In an aswer on KB article 103532 is stated:

"If the Jobserver is NOT running on an Exchange server you have to use a REMOTE PowerShell. A LOCAL PowerShell in not supported by Microsoft. Until Exchange 2010 SP2 it worked but with a post-SP2 fix MS closed this unsupported possibility."

I lost track.... Is it, or is it not possible to use a jobserver on a non-exchange server and if possible, are there any extra requirements?
